'The school provides opportunities for children to work with imagination and creativity, with emotional intelligence. Children of all different abilities can work in this environment to develop their full potential and really flourish'

Governors

School Governors are often described as 'critical friends' in relation to

the Head Teacher of a school. At Lewes New School, you can take that word
'critical' in both its meanings. We try hard to be a useful sounding board
for Lizzie as she continues to develop the school's educational approach. We
give constructive input based on our own areas of expertise and also our
interest as parents. That's pretty typical of most schools I think.

Perhaps the difference here is in the other meaning of 'critical'. Lewes New
School may be officially a 'small' school, but it has very big ambitions.
Not only is it striving to give the highest standard of all-round education
to its children, but it also wants to share its educational approach with
other schools, ultimately to help make a change in education across the UK.
And when your ambitions stretch that far, having supportive friends really
is critical.
