Two years ago, Lewes New School pioneered a new approach to Early Years education when it decided to enable its Reception/Year 1 children to play and learn alongside the kindergarten children. The two groups come together for certain sessions in a way that benefits younger and older children alike. So popular has this approach proved that the New School has just announced that it will be refurbishing an additional classroom to enable more kindergarten children to join in September. The school expects there to be ten additional places that will be allocated on a first come basis. Nursery vouchers are accepted.
Commenting on the expansion, Lizzie Overton, Head Teacher, said: "Our Early Years class has proved a big hit for children and parents alike and we're delighted to be able to offer additional places for 3 and 4 years olds. Nursery provision in Lewes is overstretched anyway, but what we can offer is a truly innovative, warm and friendly environment that gives kids the perfect start to their school life'"
