Middle Years: Years 3 & 4
The journey to Middle Years sees a gradual transition towards learning the core skills of communication and maths, as these are timetabled lessons. The element of choice remains during these sessions and experimentation and first-hand experience remain central to the children’s learning.
Project work takes on a new dimension. Children begin to take more responsibility for planning and directing their own learning. A single open-ended project can provide in-depth learning opportunities for a whole term.
Middle & Later Years Camp
From Year 3 to Year 6, children attend an annual camp. For many, this is a rite of passage. Staying two nights with their friends and teachers in ancient woodland, students connect deeply with themselves, each other and the natural world.
